Superintendent Job Description The Mantua Township MUA Superintendent is responsible for the management of the Water & Wastewater pumping stations, water treatment facilities, distribution, collection systems and construction activities in the division including planning, organizing, staffing, directing and controlling those activities in accordance with company policies and procedures. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: 1. Supervisor in charge of all water and wastewater production, pumping, water treatment, storage and distribution and collection facilities of the division including water quality, operation and maintenance of said facilities, employee training and development, and compliance with applicable federal, state and municipal regulations. 2. Responsible to the State of New Jersey as the Licensed Operator of the system(s) under the jurisdiction of the division. 3. Responsible for specifying equipment and materials pertaining to the production, treatment and distribution of water in accordance with company procedures and for proper inventory maintenance. 4. Responsible for the operation, proper maintenance and upkeep of all division mains and appurtenances, storage tanks and equipment in accordance with company procedures. 5. Direct responsibility for water quality monitoring, reporting, adherence and recordkeeping. 6. Provides input to the preparation of the division Operating and Capital Budgets; implements and adheres to the approved budgets. 7. Reviews and provides input to the design of new division facilities or changes to existing facilities. 8. Maintains open and effective lines of communication with local fire districts, municipal departments, developers and contractors, and state and federal agencies. 9. Responsible for timely and accurate meter readings and the transmission of billing data. Personnel Responsibilities: 6 employees Required Skills Possess (minimum) New Jersey State T-2, W-2, and C-2 licenses. Proficient PC skills, especially use of MS Office Programs and Emerson ControlWave Systems, valid driver’s license. Required Experience High school diploma or equivalent, minimum Associate’s degree in Engineering or Applied Sciences, or ten years of direct responsible charge in the operations and maintenance of a utility, at least five of which must have been directly dealing with the construction and/or operation of water facilities & distribution and wastewater collection systems.
